Last Saturday, American blues and soul great Eugene "Hideaway" Bridges served up a rare treat to a mainly expat crowd at Saigon's Q4.

Saigon residents are enjoying big improvements in the city's international live music offerings since the opening of Q4 (aka Cargo when smaller acts are performing). Blues and soul performers have been rare though.

You can check out some clips from the show here.

Bridges, overdressed for a stinking hot Saigon night, delighted the crowd with a mix classic blues and more up tempo soul tracks. He was ably accompanied by a collection of Saigon expats who were called in to support the show with a few weeks notice. Sound production was the only disappointment - as it so often is here.

Bridges' performed at Bourbon St Jazz Festival, an annual charity event organised to raise funds for Kids First Enterprise. Kids First is a local NGO that manufactures and distributes wheelchairs to the disabled in Quang Tri province. For more on Kids First Enterprise, check out their website here.
