The Female Factory - Parramatta's neglected heritage

Being located in Parramatta may not be good for places of national heritage. Sydney's second CBD, not far from where I grew up, is home to some of Australia's most important historic sites. Most are little known, little visited and little loved. Nowhere is this neglect more clear than at the old Female Factory (1821) - the oldest, largest female convict facility in Australia.
