Spices Garden restaurant at the colonial era Metropole Hotel is the street food experience for those who don't want to eat on the street. The flavours are fine and you'll get to see a good range of local street style food - all in Hanoi’s most luxurious hotel. Be prepared to pay a big, bordering on silly, premium for the pristine setting. And that premium seems to be increasing with each new visit. At last check the lunch buffet was priced at around 800,000VND - 20 to 30 times what you'll pay on the street. The price premium does afford you a wider selection and you can eat as much as you wish. Servers are probably not earning 20 times as much as their streetside counterparts.
