An old favourite that’s just holding on to its character in the face of fast growing popularity and an expanded space. This place has changed a lot as the crowds have grown.

Ba Le Well is a classic Vietnamese eatery slightly back from Hoi An’s old town, close by the legendary Ba Le Well - said to be the source of the original and best Cao Lau water in Hoi An.

From low tables and plastic chairs, diners enjoy a fixed menu of Banh Xeo (Vietnamese pancake), spring rolls, sate and other local favourites. The vibe is great and the food’s good too - if a tad oily.

The owner’s a great character and she’ll add some spark to a visit if she’s around.
