Here's another shot from the Tet flower market on the canal in Saigon's District 8. These old wooden boats descend on the city from the Mekong Delta each year to sell cumquat and hoa mai trees - both traditional New Year symbols. The cooler than normal weather of late has delayed the blossoming of the yellow hoa mai flowers making them harder to sell. The flowering at New Year is a sign of good things ahead.
Rusty Compass listings are always independent. We list the places we think are worth knowing about. Our Featured Listings allow a small selection of businesses already recommended by us, to pay a fee for a place at the top of our list. That’s it. Featured Listings have no impact on reviews, or on the curation and independence of our lists.
