The absence of formal tourist sites may be a big part of the appeal of Kampot. Travellers are left to explore the colonial era shophouses, cruise the riverfront and enjoy some cool little cafes.
Nearby Kampot, Mount Bokor, its national park and its eerie abandoned hillstation are popular with visitors. The cave temple at Phnom Chhngok is also an interesting spot.
