Meta House offers an alternative night out in Phnom Penh with a mix of art-house films and documentaries, comedy, DJs, parties, talks and art exhibitions.

Meta House is run by a Phnom Penh based German film director, and is primarily a hub for local artists to develop their work in an international setting. There’s also a regular program of events mixing things cultural, as well as simple pleasures like comedy, dance parties and live music.

Meta House doesn’t mind digging into serious stuff  - screening provocative films and hosting talks on issues like the environment and other issues facing Cambodia and the world. There’s something on most nights.

There’s also food available - which we didn’t get to try.

Check out the Meta House schedule while visiting Phnom Penh to see what’s coming up.

Rusty Compass recommendations are always independent. We list the places we think you should know about. That’s it. We’ve paid our way on all visits to Meta House and no money changed hands for this recommendation.
