Baphuon Temple in the Angkor Wat complex is one of the grandest of the temple mountain structures. It's been closed to travellers for restoration during much of the past two decades. It's open now and easily visited as it's located in the Angkor Thom precinct not far from The Bayon. While it lacks some of the detailed carving of other temples, during my visit, I had the place to myself - which is of itself a great attraction. I stayed around for sunset too - and again, had the place to myself.
Rusty Compass listings are always independent. We list the places we think are worth knowing about. Our Featured Listings allow a small selection of businesses already recommended by us, to pay a fee for a place at the top of our list. That’s it. Featured Listings have no impact on reviews, or on the curation and independence of our lists.
