If all those Hanoi outdoor eateries of low tables, plastic stools and unrecognisable culinary concoctions, spark your curiosity, Mark and Tu’s Hanoi Street Food tours are well worth a look.

Street eating is a big part of the magic of Hanoi and Mark and Tu are devotees of unrivalled enthusiasm and experience introducing the city’s unique culinary scene to travellers.  I haven’t yet had a chance to jump aboard a tour but plenty of others I know have and the feedback is excellent.

The street food experience isn't for everyone. You'll want to be a devoted foodie ready for new flavours and comfortable with very local settings.

Mark Lowerson is an Australian who’s been based in Hanoi for years churning out the acclaimed Sticky Rice food blog. His partner Tu, from the central coast town of Nha Trang, has been based in Hanoi since 2005 and is also a blogger.
