There are a handful of restaurants in Saigon's District 3 that warrant the short cab ride from the centre - Dong Pho is one of them.
While Vietnamese cuisine is celebrated the world over, the cuisine of the former capital of Hue, is probably the most unique and least recognised. And it's delicious.
Standards like spicy bun bo Hue soup and banh khoai are better known, but the delicate cuisine of rice paste, grilled meats and exotic salads seems to get less attention.
Hue cuisine is unusual in concept, but its flavours are very accessible - and Dong Pho is a comfortable place to explore them.
Dong Pho is very popular with locals - it doesn't see too many travellers. Recommended.
