The poke craze swept through Saigon in 2018. Poke Saigon seems to have made the biggest impact, though there have been a number of other openings across town. Poke, which is an exquisitely simple mix of diced raw fish, salad and rice served in a bowl, hails from Hawaii. I’m a latecomer to the healthy delights of poke but I’m sold. I recently visited twice in a week. It’s a perfect light lunch and Poke Saigon's bright little space is located in 42 Nguyen Hue St - the city’s most famous cafe apartment building. The staff are great and they’ll help you put together your own poke bowl. The only disappointment was that this little citadel of good health is still using plastic.

Rusty Compass listings are always independent. We list the places we think are worth knowing about. Our Featured Listings allow a small selection of businesses already recommended by us, to pay a fee for a place at the top of our list. That’s it. Featured Listings have no impact on reviews, or on the curation and independence of our lists.
