Xu Restaurant is one of the best places in Saigon for a delicious, dressed-up night out. Xu serves modern Vietnamese cuisine, with original touches. The decor's fancy and the staff are fantastic.

Xu's been open for well over a decade now and it's one of those places that's gotten better with age. It makes all the right noises as an upscale restaurant - cool decor, friendly staff, good central location and a menu with an interesting take on Vietnamese cuisine.

And after my most recent visit, I'd say Xu's doing some of Saigon's best contemporary Vietnamese cuisine too.

This is a place for a special Saigon night out.

There are three degustation menus ranging from around US$45 to US$65 - the more expensive also include free flow of of good wines and other drinks.

There's also an a la carte menu.

The bar downstairs is one of the most popular with Saigon’s in-crowd too. You can pop down for a drink after dinner.

Xu is open for lunch and dinner 7 days.

We haven't been back to Xu since 2015 but we continue to hear good things about this place so it remains in our list.
