The Ha An was Hoi An’s first family run boutique hotel and was also a long time favourite. Still a nice spot - its success may have diminished some its charm.

Review

The Ha An is a near perfect model of a boutique hotel with small but tasteful rooms, attractive buildings that blend well with Hoi An town, lovely grounds and an excellent location at the edge of the old town. It was the first boutique hotel of its kind in Hoi An and has won lots of praise for that. Higher prices and a slightly less cosy vibe have taken away some its shine.

Location

A superb location on a relatively quiet and picturesque old street at the eastern end of the old town.

One of the owners is a French Vietnamese architect and he’s done a fantastic job here. The Ha An Hotel’s creation has paid full dues to Hoi An’s heritage and sits harmoniously in the old town. Very few of the town’s accommodations can make that claim.

And with a small number of rooms, lovely gardens and great staff, the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed.

As a result, the Ha An is one of Hoi An’s most popular hotels and with so few rooms, books out early during busy months. Rates have been rising fast in recent years on the back of strong demand. Hopefully that will spur some quality imitations around town. Vietnam needs more hotels like this. Highly recommended.

Facilities brief: Air con, mini bar, free wifi in public areas, free bicycles, garden
