Convoys of coaches leave Saigon each morning to meet a flotilla small craft that carry travellers through Mekong River canals, fruit orchards and islands. Despite the crowds, it's a worthwhile day for those short on time.

Most travellers book their day trips in Saigon and there's no real upside in arranging it after arriving in My Tho. Any small price benefit will be offset by inconvenience and possible additional charges if you can't assemble a group. Some extra time (1 - 2 nights) and travel a little further into the delta is recommended.
