Viroth's is a stunning 50s inspired design hotel of 35 rooms in Siem Reap’s Wat Bo area. It takes its architectural and decorative cues from the Cambodian modernism that flourished during the early years of post-colonial Cambodia. It's an excellent combination of style, friendly service, and value for money.

Location

The Wat Bo area is one of the best locations to stay in Siem Reap. It’s relatively quiet and has good access on foot to the best restaurants and nightlife of the old market area. The Angkor temples are around 15 minutes away by tuk-tuk.

Viroth's is located on a quiet street just off Wat Bo road.

Review

Design and quality have been hallmarks of the work of the Viroth’s people since they opened their very good restaurant on Wat Bo Rd more than 10 years ago.

Viroth’s Hotel, opened in early 2015 and takes their offerings to a new level. Impeccably designed to the last detail, this is a real standout. The use of colour is ambitious - but works a treat.

The 35 rooms are spacious, each with a balcony and individual design touches. Deluxe rooms are more than 30sqm and Suites are just under 50sqm.

The restaurant and bar area are airy with vintage decor touches and some surprisingly successful colour couplings. There’s also a small library.

There’s a twenty metre pool in the central courtyard that will be more shaded as the newly planted garden grows a little more.

The solar panels on the roof are so far only providing hot water. We look forward to the installation of solar for power too.

Viroth’s is owned by a local and a long-term French expat.
