There are loads of boats offering overnight stays on Halong Bay. Here, we give you a look at some of our favourites as well as some of the things you'll do if you stay overnight on the bay.
The good news is that all of the boats covered here offer a good standard of accommodation, service, meals and inclusions.Prices are reasonable too. You'll need to decide on how lavish a cabin you want or whether you want to charter your own boat.

One of the newest boats on Halong Bay, the luxurious Au Co offers full day as well as 1 and 2 night cruises.

Bhaya is a large operator and this is their main "Bhaya Classic" style boat - Halong Bay.

Bhaya Legend, Halong Bay. This smaller Bhaya boat is available for charter.
Paradise cruises use a similar style junk to Bhaya with slightly smarter decor.

Paradise Explorer is a smaller craft from the same company avalable for private charter.
The Emeraude is a recreation of a paddle steamer that cruised Halong Bay in the early 20th century.
This is classic cruising on a colonial era style boat.

Halong Jasmine is part of the Cruise Halong group that also owns the Ginger and the Violet. These are modern versions of old style junks. The sails are purely decorative.

Halong Ginger is a smaller boat than the Jasmine though similar in style.

Halong Violet is the premium junk of the group with a similar exterior and a handful of enormous cabins, all with plenty of viewing space.

Single night cruises tend to be similar in itinerary content beginning with cruising out to the main bay. Itineraries are tight in terms of time too. If the weather is good, consider a 2 night stay.
A row boat trip to a local fishing village is a standard inclusion.

Some brief kayaking is also usually included. More kayaking is available during 2 night stays.

Swimming off the Bhaya Classic. Travellers increasingly express concern about the cleanliness of the water in the bay and suitability for swimming.
The water is enticing but the environmental issues need urgent attention.
Cooking classes are another common inclusion.
