The Calypso Grand is a popular boutique hotel of 20 rooms on the fringe of Hanoi’s Old Quarter. Small and friendly with tasteful design and modern amenities.

Location

Nearby the former citadel in Hanoi’s Old Quarter. It’s slightly away from the main tourist ghetto in the old quarter giving it a slight edge if you’d prefer to be away from the tourist hoards. Good access on foot to the major sites as well as some great street food.

Review

With only 20 rooms, the Calypso Grand is especially cosy and welcoming. Room interiors are modern, simple but striking with deep red flourishes.

The best rooms are at the front or the back of the building because they have windows and natural light. Lead-in rooms are in the middle and have an internal window that gets some light from a skylight.

Deluxe or suite rooms are the best bet.

Brief
