This isn't an official street party as such but Hanoi's Ta Hien St has been transformed by the spillover from beer corner. The closure of sections of the old quarter to traffic on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights has seen the crowds swell with young locals and travellers. It's busy other nights too. Pull up a plastic stool and grab a beer, or head into one several bars that are usually packed. Some manage to cramp live bands into tiny spaces, others feature DJs. It’s a great scene so make sure you pop by - at least for a look. The bars towards Hang Buom St tend to be a little less intense if you’re looking for an escape. Ta Hien St shuts down at midnight so you’ll need to head out of the old quarter if you want the party to roll on.

Rusty Compass listings are always independent. We list the places we think are worth knowing about. Our Featured Listings allow a small selection of businesses already recommended by us, to pay a fee for a place at the top of our list. That’s it. Featured Listings have no impact on reviews, or on the curation and independence of our lists.
