Review

Simple floating bungalows on the river are a memorable Mekong experience. Built and decorated with bamboo and rattan, Mekong Floating House opened in early 2011.

You need to book this in advance. Walk in - or float in guests definitely not welcome. The restaurant serves great local food - and you need to let them know if you're planning to eat lunch or dinner here.

The river setting is picturesque but the Mekong is a working river so there are plenty of boats passing with some accompanying noise. Things quieten down at night.

Rooms have mosquito nets but make sure you bring some repellant as well.

Mekong Floating House is run by Kim Thanh travel company,
who can also arrange biking and  boat trips.
