Review
The Frangipani succeeds in creating that appealing boutique feel where many others in Siem Reap fail. Simple decisions of good taste combined with good facilities make this a favourite.
Location
Increasingly hectic Wat Bo St enjoys good access on foot or by took took to Siem Reap's main town restaurants, bars and other attractions as well as the Angkor temples. The hotel is in a residential area that is being increasingly colonized by restaurants and other hotels. It's set back from the main road however providing some welcome escape from the bustle. Rooms at the rear have views across traditional houses and Wat Bo.
Architecture, Ambience, People
Clean simple design and decoration has prevailed here with great results - polished concrete floors, poster beds, simple Khmer decorations. A measured use of available land also means that there are small gardens at the front and rear that give the whole property warmth and spaciousness despite the downtown location. A good sized pool is a big hit with families.
Rooms follow the pattern of simplicity and are a good size. The rear rooms with balconies are the pick.
Staff are very welcoming though English fluency varies wildly.
Briefing:
Pool, air con, free wifi, computers, gardens, generous common areas, free bicycles
