    • Wrecked boats lie on thousands of family photos. The Erasure exhibit movingly addresses issues of immigration, memory and rupture - reflecting on the Vietnames experience.

    • The artist, Dinh Q. Le. He was also inspired by the Christmas Island tragedy off Australia's coast in 2010 when up to 50, mainly Iranian and Iraqi asylum seekers, perished when their boat was smashed on to rocks in violent seas.

    • Erasure - Hundreds of thousands perished fleeing Vietnam in the 70s and early 80s. This wrecked boat sits amidst 1000s of real Vietnamese family photos the artist has collected in Saigon.

Rusty Compass listings are always independent. We list the places we think are worth knowing about. Our Featured Listings allow a small selection of businesses already recommended by us, to pay a fee for a place at the top of our list. That’s it. Featured Listings have no impact on reviews, or on the curation and independence of our lists.
