One for the Ho Chi Minh or museum fanatics. It's on the main road so there's no harm in stopping. Very similar to the Ho Chi Minh Museums in each town in Vietnam. Very little to show from Uncle Ho's connection with Hue.

A prime location on Hue's picturesque Perfume River and a new building may create expectations of something special in Hue’s Ho Chi Minh Museum. Alas, any such expectations will be quickly dashed.

On our visit, we had to wait 20 minutes for someone to turn the lights on - at 2.30PM on a Thursday.

The collection is much same as that of other Ho Chi Minh Museums throughout the country. There is little to acknowledge that the great man had two residences in the area at the beginning of the twentieth century.

The lower floor is increasingly used for other exhibitions and during our visit had some very interesting Japanese contemporary art on display.

Travel tips

The location on the river not far from the National School makes this an easy enough place to visit for a quick look.
