    Introduction

Phu Quoc Island is being rapidly transformed from a pristine natural escape to a haven of golf and mega-resorts. We've loved Phu Quoc since the nineties - especially its natural, simple beauty. This selection of the island's best resorts, focuses on the Phu Quoc of sprawling white sand, forests and simple pleasures. We've thrown in a couple of luxury options too.

    • Phu Quoc Island is being transformed by large scale developments. There are loads of new hotels and resorts. But our list, updated in December 2015, is staying mostly with old-school Phu Quoc Island digs - simple, beautiful, with great beaches - and in a few cases luxurious too.
    • Bamboo Cottages is a very cute little hideaway on Vung Bau Beach. It has plenty of appeal, but its best feature is that it's Phu Quoc's first solar powered resort.
    • Solar powered - Bamboo Cottages, Phu Quoc Island
    • 19 simple bungalows look across a stunning beach.
    • There's plenty of greenery - including some grand old trees. - Bamboo Cottages Phu Quoc Island.
    • Simple rooms - no air con - no TV - no mini bar. Bamboo Cottages.
    • Bamboo Cottages Phu Quoc.
    • Bo Resort is the ultimate Phu Quoc back to nature getaway. Unfortunately it hasn't gone solar yet - but in these stripped back bungalows, you'll need to be very inventive to use much electricity.
    • Perfect simplicity. Bungalow interior at Bo Resort - no air-con, no TV, no mini-bar. But you will get the sound of birds and plenty of other critters. And you may get the odd bug visiting too. Bliss!
    • Bo Resort, Phu Quoc - a vast beautiful stretch of Ong Lanh Beach that, for now at least, is free of development.
    • Bo Resort, Phu Quoc Island - sunsets rule! Who needs a pool when you can swim here?
    • Bo Resort, Phu Quoc Island - sunset.
    • Mango Bay Resort, Phu Quoc Island is a more upscale back-to-nature proposition than Bo Resort.
    • Mango Bay Resort, Phu Quoc Island - room interior. Sadly, they haven't yet made the solar leap - except for hot water.
    • Mango Bay Resort, Phu Quoc Island
    • Mango Bay Resort, Phu Quoc Island
    • Mango Bay Resort, Phu Quoc Island
    • Mango Bay Resort, Phu Quoc Island - 1km of beach front. Pool not necessary.
    • Mango Bay Resort, Phu Quoc Island
    • Wooden bungalow -Mango Bay Resort, Phu Quoc Island
    • Chen Sea Resort combines luxurious bungalows, that aren't overdone, with a glorious swathe of beach. The pool's impressive too.
    • Chen Sea Resort, Phu Quoc - the beach.
    • Bungalow - Chen Sea Resort - Phu Quoc,
    • Room interior - Chen Sea Resort, Phu Quoc
    • Chen Sea Resort, Phu Quoc - the pool.
    • La Veranda Resort, Phu Quoc - and MGallery resort - in the heart of busier Long Beach. It's a colonial style recreation with a lot of class and lovely lush green grounds.
    • La Veranda Resort, Phu Quoc - room interior.
    • La Veranda Resort, Phu Quoc - bar and restaurant
    • La Veranda Resort, Phu Quoc. The pool.
    • La Veranda Resort, Phu Quoc - right on Long Beach

Rusty Compass listings are always independent. We list the places we think are worth knowing about. Our Featured Listings allow a small selection of businesses already recommended by us, to pay a fee for a place at the top of our list. That’s it. Featured Listings have no impact on reviews, or on the curation and independence of our lists.
