Price guide: $$$$$
La Badiane has been a consistent favourite French restaurant in Hanoi since its opening several years ago. The setting, in a colonial villa, is special and service is consistently friendly and professional too. I've enjoyed many wonderful meals at La Badiane. My most recent visit (July 2015) was less impressive though - and hopefully a one off. My travelling companion and I were both disappointed with our mains - the exciting flavours of many previous visits were missing. We were also advised that the chef whose work we've come to admire, is no longer in the kitchen. The other thing we noted was a big hike in prices since our last visit more than 2 years ago. 3 courses will set you back $50USD. There is also a degustation menu that is considerably more expensive. Big expectations accompany that kind of pricing. We'll be back soon to give La Badiane another look. Hopefully our most recent experience will be quickly forgotten.

Rusty Compass listings are always independent. We list the places we think are worth knowing about. Our Featured Listings allow a small selection of businesses already recommended by us, to pay a fee for a place at the top of our list. That’s it. Featured Listings have no impact on reviews, or on the curation and independence of our lists.
