I’m going to assume that Vietnam’s restaurant owners don’t appreciate the difficulty most foreigners experience in pronouncing the word “ngon” - which means delicious in Vietnamese. Hanoi has at least three restaurants that are “ngon” - from different owners. Pronouncing the name is the first hurdle. Then you have to remember which “ngon’ you’re looking for.
Ngon Villa is the latest, and it’s opened bang in the middle of Hanoi’s Tong Duy Tan St, aka. Food St. It’s a big step up for a strip more accustomed to no-frills local food on blue plastic stools.
Ngon Villa’s a comfortable way to experience the regional flavours from Vietnam’s north, south and centre. The all-you-can-eat menus are extensive. Everything is served up on demand - it's not a buffet. And you can keep ordering till you’ve had your fill.
There are three menu tiers. During my visit these ranged in price between around 300K VND and 600K VND. The offerings in the basic tier are very adequate. Higher tiers have more seafood dishes.
Ngon Villa had only recently opened during my visit so there was a little bit of clunkiness - to be expected in a new place. Staff were good and the meal was delicious. The place was buzzing.
