Location

Banyan Tree Lang Co is situated on a remote stretch of beach between Hue (65kms away) Danang (55kms away) and Hoi An which is 80kms away. The nearest functioning airport at time of writing is Danang. Hue airport is closed for an upgrade scheduled to be completed late 2013. Banyan Tree Lang Co is more than thirty minutes drive from Lang Co town.

There are no dining or nightlife options nearby the resort so you'll be spending your meals and evenings in-resort.

Review

Banyan Tree's grand foray into Vietnam is bold and ambitious. Its remote location means that probably only determined Banyan Tree loyalists and golf fanatics will make it here for now. And the area's climatic extremes (it's closest to Hue in terms of climate) present another challenge. The Hue climate includes both a hot humid summer and a cool moist winter.

Banyan Tree Lang Co is a destination resort in every way. You come here because you want to be here. It's an escape. There's not much in the area to remind you of where you are with the ocean on one side and the mountains behind. Access to the nearest town requires some effort.

The Nick Faldo designed golf course will be a magnet for golfers.

And while the setting is spectacular and the facilities extensive, pricing is on the high side and seems likely to fall unless a major tourism surge to the area occurs. Competition at the high end on the central Vietnam beach strip is hotting up.

Banyan Tree Lang Co consists of 49 villas located on the beach or overlooking lush green grounds and a lagoon. There are plenty of signature Banyan Tree touches that devotees won over elsewhere will recognise.

Villas are spacious and nicely done and all include plunge pool and extensive gardens and grounds. Large walls enclose each one to ensure privacy.

The private beach is long and great for morning and afternoon walks. It's a slightly less attractive swimming option. The pool setting is nice but might get tight when the resort runs high occupancy.

The Banyan Tree Resort is part of the more extensive Laguna Lang Co development that includes a golf course, apartments and villas for sale. The Angsana Resort, a five star sister property that sits beside the Banyan Tree is part of the same Laguna development. If you like the sound of the location and facilities of the Banyan Tree but are balking at the price, you can also check out the Angsana which is priced more in the 5 star resort range.

Brief
Extensive facilities - spa, Nick Faldo golf course, water sports, gym and yoga, pool, restaurants, wifi and much more.
