This is a very sweet little place. A social enterprise, Reaching Out Teahouse serves tea, coffee, and a small selection of snacks, in a beautifully decorated traditional old house, not far from the Japanese bridge. Staff are hearing-impaired locals. The cafe aims to keep noise to a minimum - also a nice touch. Whispers are tolerated and the street noise flows through. But the idea is to make the place as serene as possible. It's a perfect spot for a cup of tea or coffee and a snack, and some quiet time - all for a good cause.

Rusty Compass listings are always independent. We list the places we think are worth knowing about. Our Featured Listings allow a small selection of businesses already recommended by us, to pay a fee for a place at the top of our list. That’s it. Featured Listings have no impact on reviews, or on the curation and independence of our lists.
